Chinese electric vehicles may account for more than 25% of the EU market this year

The European Transport Environment Federation (T&E) released a report on March 27 that about 19.5% (nearly 290,000) of pure electric vehicles sold in the EU last year were made in China, and the figure is expected to increase to 25.4% this year. According to the report, Western car companies will account for more than half of the Chinese-made pure electric vehicles sold in the EU in 2023, of which 28% will come from Tesla. But the share of local brands is climbing, from 0.4 per cent in 2019 to 7.9 per cent in 2023, and is expected to reach 11 per cent this year and 20 per cent in 2027.
